Honda India unveiled the legendary Africa Twin at the 2016 Auto Expo and that got us excited. However, this adventure motorcycle won’t be launched anytime soon, at least not for the next six months.
The reason being big premium bikes isn’t a priority for India. While we did get the CBR650F last year it came after a long wait. In fact, Honda displayed their latest adventure concept – CX 02, but for now, this is not a priority for the company as its main focus is to update its entire line-up for BSIV emissions, which will come into effect this year. Currently, the CB Hornet 160R and the CBR650F are the only two assembled motorcycles that fulfill the BSIV emission norms.
The Japanese manufacturer is currently in the process of updating close to 13 models to meet the emissions and all of them will be launched this year. And for obvious reasons, majority of the manpower and resources have been put on these projects and it makes sense because the amount of revenue it generates. Unfortunately, the middleweight motorcycles like the CB500X won’t make it to India anytime soon.
Stay tuned to BikeWale as we get you more information from 2016 Auto Expo.
