- BMW’s service website has leaked three new model names that are in the pipeline
- Along with the R1300GS, the R1400GS and M1300GS are also in the works
- Expect BMW to make an official announcement by mid 2023
BMW Motorrad’s upcoming GS lineup has been leaked online from the company’s international service website. Apart from the R1300GS that was spotted testing back in June 2021, the Bavarian bikemaker also aims to bring in the R1400GS and the M1300GS. But what to expect from the future trio?
Well, from the previous spy shots of the R1300GS, it’s set to replace the current flagship model from BMW’s ADV bloodline. It gets a new fascia, wherein the LED headlight slants at the front and the panel flows to form a front beak of sorts. The big brawny silhouette stays intact.
The test mule also seems to pack radiator fans just behind the tank shrouds. This means that the current part air/part liquid-cooled motor will finally make way for a completely liquid-cooled motor. Expect the new motor to offer more power, courtesy of the displacement bump, and also be a tad more efficient as the heat management will be better. The R1300GS will retain the shaft drive system but with some minor tweaks.
BMW could also alter the current two-piece frame setup to nestle the larger engine. What’s visible in the spy shots are black panels with the frame painted on them (illusion tricks and how). Expect the R1300GS to retain the front Telelever fork and the rear Paralever shock.
As for the R1400GS, it could be a probable replacement for the Adventure variant. However, since most of the bikes see more time on the road instead of off-road, BMW could offer the R1400GS as a road-going, tad more powerful and tech-savvy model, to rival the Multistrada V4.
Last but not least, given the success of the M lineup for BMW cars and now bikes with the M1000RR, the M1300GS too seems sensible. Expect lightweight components, more tech than the R model, and perhaps smaller front wheels for agile handling. Similar to what Ducati does with its Pikes Peak model.
All said and done, BMW hasn’t revealed any of its future plans, but we expect it to do so by early or mid-2023, globally.
