It’s been a little over a month since I came back from one fantastic Royal Enfield Ride. It was called the Unroad Maharashtra 2021 and I have been finding ways to make my presence felt in the 2022 edition. Not kidding. But those who are curious about this ride, you can read about my experience in this feature story. Today, I’m writing this story for the Himalayan owners who are always on the lookout for adventure. Well, the Unroad Maharashtra is one such adventure and I tell you five reasons why you should attend one.
The Challenge
The Unroad Maharashtra is one challenging ride. While you won’t be riding hundreds of kilometers daily, you will be spending many hours on forest trails. These trails require lots of planning, followed by great execution. And this can be achieved easily if you have great strength, stamina and more importantly, being calm inside that helmet.
Bike’s real potential
The Himalayan shows its true colours when the road ends. The bike is extremely capable off-road, and with the kind of obstacles I rode over during Unroad, I was honestly not surprised. Because I have spent a lot of time with the 2020 model and I have taken it to the extreme and every time I was left impressed.
Safety
Now with such an extreme ride, the rider’s safety is always the top priority. And just like in other rides, RE team is always there to help the riders. Be it during the ride or if the rider is stuck in some trails. There were a few narrow trails that was little dangerous to cross. But the RE team decided to make it a bit easier for us to keep everyone safe and sound.
Route
The trail routes were mixed of simple off-road tracks, gravel and dusty. Most of the time we spent on dust, making it little difficult for riders riding at the back. But overall, it was a new experience for most of the riders and all of time, enjoyed following each other on a staggered manner.
Fraternity
Unroad Maharashtra is one of the best places for the Himalayan owners to meet, talk and share experiences of their bike. It is also a place to talk more about touring and ADV modifications owners have done to their bikes. This makes it easy for the Himalayan owners who are spread across the country try these modifications out.
