- It is expected to be based on the F 850 GS
- A mid-size sports tourer was spotted testing last year
- BMW might unveil it at EICMA this year
BMW Motorrad has hinted at what might be its upcoming sports tourer motorcycle, the F 850 RS, through its 2019 range brochure. Addressed as a choice for those willing to enter touring range of BMW, the F 850 RS was mentioned alongside the high-capacity tourers such as the R 1250 RT, K 1600 GT and GTL.
BMW launched its mid-size ADV, the F 850 GS last year which is powered by an 853cc, twin-cylinder, water-cooled engine. It is highly likely that the German bikemaker will utilise this powerplant in other models. This would be similar to how BMW uses its 1254cc mill on the R 1250 R, R 1250 RS and the R 1250 GS. Moreover, what backs up the prospects of this model are the spy shots of a 9Cento concept-based test mule which was spotted testing in November last year. 9Cento is a sports tourer concept which was showcased by BMW at the Villa d’Este in 2018.
BMW might unveil this motorcycle at EICMA 2019 motorcycle show in Milan, Italy. If the company launches it, the bike will certainly make its way to India as well.
