The BMW CE 02 electric scooter has been officially teased on the company’s Indian social media handles. BMW adds that the CE 02 is “arriving soon.” Word is that the company plans to launch the electric scooter by mid-September.
The teaser reveals a few yet interesting details about the CE 02. The scooter has a small fly screen above the LED headlight, the front fork is gold-coloured and there is a neatly designed and integrated saree guard.
One can also spot the 3.5-inch micro TFT display with basic connectivity features. The other conveniences include USB-C charging, keyless ride and single-channel ABS.
The design of the CE 02 blends form and function quite well. The scooter seems to have been designed around a battery and electric motor. This explains the lack of conventional body panels.
Powering the scooter is an air-cooled synchronous motor. The scooter has a 2kWh battery and customers can choose to have a single or twin battery setup. With a single battery, the scooter has a range of 45km and is capable of hitting a top speed of 45kmph.
Two batteries will raise the range to 90km while the top speed climbs to 95kmph. This sort of performance is good enough for riding in the city as well as on the highway.
BMW is expected to price the CE 02 from Rs 5 lakh onwards. The positioning of the scooter will be on the premium end of the scale, considering the badge it wears.
