- Two new BMW electric two-wheelers to be launched in India
- CE 02 is made in India
- CE 04 will be priced around Rs. 10 lakh
BMW Motorrad has a busy schedule for 2024. The company will launch the new R1300 GS and the new F850 GS this year. In fact, it will also enter the EV space in India with the launch of the CE 04 and the CE 02 electric two-wheelers.
This new CE electric two-wheeler brand is being positioned as an urban high-tech product that will be sold primarily in Europe. But to increase brand awareness in India, the German company will introduce these two products in the country as well.
The BMW CE 02 is being manufactured by TVS at their Hosur plant and will be exported worldwide. This two-wheeler is powered by a 2kWh battery with options to choose from a single or a dual battery setup. This means the scooter offers 90km of range and 95kmph top speed or a 45km range and 45kmph top speed depending on the setup.
The CE 04, on the other hand, is being made only in Germany. It is powered by an 8.9kWh lithium-ion battery pack with a claimed range of 130km. It takes around four hours to charge it through a 2.3kW charger whereas a fast charger can do that in an hour and 40 minutes. As for the propulsion motor, this 15kW unit can produce a maximum output of nearly 41bhp. This BMW can do 0-50kmph in 2.6 seconds and can attain a top speed of 120kmph.
Both these products will be priced on the expensive side. Although the CE 02 is made in India, it will still carry an expected price tag of around Rs. 5 lakh as it is a premium product. The CE 04 price could touch Rs. 10 lakh – making it an exclusive product to own in India.
