BMW Motorrad has finally forayed into the Indian two-wheeler market with the debut of the CE 04. It is the German brand’s first electric two-wheeler here and also the most expensive one. Let's take a look at what it has to offer.
Given the size and proportions of the CE 04, it is an absolute head-turner. The way it looks may get polarising views, but it does land the eyeballs for sure.
The BMW CE 04’s bodywork comprises of large panels with cuts and creases and a very unconventional design overall. We like how there is very minimal branding and stickers on the entire scooter.
BMW is offering the CE 04 in two paint schemes – Imperial Blue and Light White. The Imperial Blue colour gets a shade of dark blue contrasted by a partially orange seat cover and other highlights in orange. Meanwhile, the Light White gets all-white body panels with a black and grey seat cover.
Powering the BMW CE 04 is a 15kW motor linked to an 8.5kWh battery. The setup offers 130km of range and 120kmph top speed. BMW says the CE 04 takes four hours and 20 minutes for a full charge using the standard charger. But the same reduces to an hour and 20 minutes using the fast charger.
Apart from the modern looks, the BMW CE 04 also has some contemporary features. The list includes traction control, ABS, full LED illumination, a 10.25-inch TFT, keyless operation, three ride modes (eco, rain, road), intelligent emergency call, reverse gear, and a Type-C USB port. You can also add heated grips, a comfort package (heated seats, heated grips, comfort seats, and a backrest) and more as optional accessories.
On the hardware front, the CE 04 gets telescopic front forks and a monoshock while the braking duties are done by a dual 265mm front and a single 265mm rear disc. These are mounted on 15-inch wheels.
BMW has priced the CE 04 at Rs. 14.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This makes it the most expensive scooter currently on sale in India.
