BMW Motorrad has been working on entering the electric two-wheeler market in India. We have encountered the test mules of its CE 02 and seen the CE 04 at multiple events. Now, the German automaker is set to launch the CE 04 in India in a month. Here is what we know about it so far.
Futuristic Design
A glance at the CE 04 and it is futuristic design makes a bold statement. The scooter appears big in proportions and quite modern too. Its design may give polar opinions but the CE 04 seems to have noticeable size and styling. It looks quite different from an average electric scooter.
Loaded with Tech
BMW has packed the CE 04 with an array of features. This includes full LED illumination, a 10.2-inch TFT with smartphone connectivity, keyless operation, three ride modes (eco, rain, and ride, ABS, a USB C charging port, and more. Further, BMW also offers additional aids like heated grips, an anti-theft alarm, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and a few more accessories.
Ample Power and Range
The BMW CE 04 packs a 15kW, permanent magnet, liquid-cooled synchronous electric motor linked to an 8.9kWh battery. The setup is said to offer a 130km range and about 120kmph top speed. The numbers seem quite decent and should make the scooter usable in the city limits.
Hardware
The BMW CE 04 rides on telescopic front forks and rear monoshock while the brakes comprise dual 265mm front discs and a single 265mm rear unit. These are mounted on 15-inch wheels wrapped in a 120/70 front and a 160/60 rear tyre. That said, the CE 04 weighs a hefty 231kg.
Expected Price
BMW retails the CE 04 at USD 12,430 (approximately Rs. 10.38 lakh). So, you can expect it to cost in the same ballpark in India as well. This will make it one of the most expensive electric two-wheelers in India.
