The BMW CE 04 electric scooter is all set to be launched tomorrow in India. This is BMW Motorrad’s first electric scooter in India and it’s quite unique.
Futuristic design
The BMW CE 04 looks quite futuristic and you’d be forgiven to think that it belongs to the Tron movie franchise. It has got edge-shaped body panels, the headlight is integrated into the front apron and the seat has a floating effect that looks very cool. Another styling element that catches your eye is the offset placement of the monoshock.
Powerful motor
The scooter has a 15kW electric motor that makes 41bhp and 61Nm. BMW claims that the scooter can accelerate from 0-50kmph in 2.6s only and hit a top speed of 120kmph. That is fast enough for a scooter.
Battery stats
Powering the motor is a 8.9kWh battery that lasts 130km in a single charge. The company claims that the standard charger takes a little over four hours to top up the battery once it is depleted. BMW will also supply an optional fast charger and this drops charging time significantly to an hour and forty minutes.
Electronics
The scooter has three ride modes- Road, Rain and Eco. These alter the rate of acceleration. There’s dynamic traction control as well.
Price
Expect the price to sit well north of Rs 10 lakh and word is that it could even cross Rs 15 lakh, ex-showroom. That will make the scooter accessible to the well-heeled, especially those who want a stylish and futuristic runabout for the city.
