BMW Motorrad India has launched its entry-level electric two-wheeler, the CE 02. Although it’s the German brands smallest EV, the price tag is exorbitant at Rs. 4.50 lakh. While it’s a lifestyle product targeted at a very specific set of buyers, here’s an interesting list of alternatives for a price similar to the CE 02.
Aprilia RS 457: Rs. 4.10 lakh
For a price significantly less than the BMW, Aprilia retails the RS 457. It is arguably the most enticing supersport in its segment with a gorgeous Italian design and an extremely potent 457cc, twin-cylinder engine. One can also equip the bike with a quick shifter and other aids like ABS, traction control, and three riding are available as standard.
Yamaha YZF-R3: Rs. 4.65 lakh
If you want Japanese reliability, the Yamaha YZF-R3 is just slightly more expensive than the CE 02. Although it is quite basic in terms of equipment and features, the smooth-revving engine and incredible handling dynamics are the USPs of the R3. The high price tag is courtesy of it being a CBU (completely built-up) product for India.
Benelli Leoncino 500: Rs. 4.99 lakh
The Benelli Leoncino 500 is a scrambler-styled street bike which is known for its 500cc, parallel-twin engine which sounds really sweet, much like an inline four. This motor produces 46.8bhp and 46Nm. Although it’s not attractive in terms of the overall package, the unique design and attention to detail make it appealing.
Benelli Leoncino 502C: Rs. 5.25 lakh
This one is substantially more expensive than the BMW CE 02 but it is a great motorcycle for those who want an urban cruiser. It truly stands out on the design front with a close visual resemblance to the Ducati Diavel V4. The power cruiser bodywork comprises an oval-shaped headlamp, a downward sweeping fuel tank, and a short and stubby floating-style tail section.
