BMW is currently in the process of developing two new variants of the famous R NineT motorcycle. This information was revealed through the filings made with the California Air Resources Board (CARB).
Positioned as a heritage motorcycle, the R NineT has its own set of buyers that are looking for something different and unique. In fact, in order to cater to a wider base, the German maker introduced the Scrambler version of the R NineT at the EICMA last year. So it was obvious that BMW will try to maximise on this motorcycle platform and hence we’re talking about the two new versions.
As per reports, BMW has received certification for two variants – the R NineT Pure and the R NineT Racer. While the details on this is a little sketchy, one of these versions is rumoured to be the production version of the Lac Rose Concept that was unveiled a couple of weeks ago. The idea behind this concept was to design a bike that resembles the Dakar Rally bikes of the 1980s which were quite retro in nature. Talking about the other variant, currently, there’s no information on it. It looks like we might see a couple of teasers from the German manufacturer as we get close to Intermot 2016 and the EICMA 2016. But the most important question, will these bikes come to India when BMW launches its products officially? Well, the R NineT will come for sure but its other three variants might take some time.
Stay tuned!
