The BMW F 900 GS Adventure is the more touring-focused version of the F 900 GS that was launched alongside it a few days ago. As the name suggests, it has a large fuel tank to offer more range, but that’s not the only difference between it and the F 900 GS.
Design
The BMW F 900 GS Adventure looks larger than the F 900 GS that it is based on. This is down to the large, 23-litre fuel tank that occupied pride of place. BMW has successfully tried to reduce the visual mass by adding new body panels around the tank as part of the extensions. Even the LED headlight's asymmetric design is strikingly different from the GS’ headlight. It also gives the bike a more imposing face and people who like their ADVs with road presence will like that.
Engine
The BMW F 900 GS Adventure is powered by an 895cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that makes 105bhp at 8,500rpm and 93Nm at 6,750rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox. This engine makes more power than the outgoing 850’s engine while the torque spread is also much wider in the new engine.
Features
BMW has added a decent amount of kit on the bike. The list includes all LED lights, traction control, ABS and ride modes. There is a neat, TFT display to adjust all the aforementioned functions.
Chassis
The bike has a bridge-tyre frame which uses the engine as a stressed member. The frame is suspended by a USD fork and a monoshock. There’s a 21-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel and these are tubeless, wire-spoke rims with road-biased tyres. Braking duties are taken care of by twin discs at the front and a disc brake at the rear.
Price
The BMW F 900 GS Adventure is priced at Rs 14.75 lakh, ex-showroom. The bike goes up against the Triumph Tiger 900 range.
