- Prices to be announced soon
- Both bikes to be available as CBU products
- Predecessors to the F850 GS models
BMW Motorrad India has announced that it has started accepting bookings for its upcoming middle-weight adventure touring motorcycles, the F 900 GS and F 900 GS Adventure from today onwards. These bikes will be available as completely built-up (CBU) products and will replace the F850 GS standard and Adventure which start from Rs. 12.95 lakh, ex-showroom. The new 900 models might demand a considerable premium over their predecessors.
The base F 900 GS is a more off-road-focused machine than the Adventure trim. It boasts a more minimalistic bodywork with slimmer dimensions than the Adventure variant. It is also 27kg lighter with a kerb weight of 219kg. The F 900 GS rides on a 21-17-inch spoke wheel combination that is shod with block-pattern tyres. The suspension setup comprises USD front forks and a rear monoshock with both being manually adjustable. Strangely, this bike borrows its headlamp from the much smaller G310GS.
The F 900 GS Adventure, meanwhile, is a more touring-oriented offering with road-biased tyres and bulkier bodywork. It also has a 23-litre fuel tank which is substantially bigger than the base’s 14.5-litre unit. Besides other subtle differences between the two, the Adventure trim offers the facility to adjust the suspension setup electronically.
What’s common across the F 900 series is the new and bigger 895cc, twin-cylinder engine that produces 105bhp at 8500rpm and a peak torque of 93Nm at 6750rpm. This is an increment of almost 10bhp and 1Nm over the previous 853cc unit. Moreover, both bikes are equally impressive on the feature front. The package comprises multiple riding modes, power modes, traction control, ABS, a bi-directional quick shifter, and a large 6.5-inch colour TFT display.
