- Deliveries to commence next month
BMW Motorrad has launched the F 900 GS and the F 900 GS Adventure in India. The price of the former is Rs. 13.75 lakh while the latter is pegged at Rs. 14.75 lakh, ex-showroom. These adventure motorcycles will be available as completely built-up units (CBU) and the deliveries will commence from October 2024.
The F 900 twins are the successor to the F 850 GS and are improved on almost every front. Both bikes are powered by an 895cc, twin-cylinder engine that replaces the previous 853cc unit. The power and torque output numbers have also increased and gone up to 105bhp at 8500rpm and 93Nm at 6750rpm. The motor is linked to a six-speed gearbox. This engine clings onto a bridge-type chassis which connects to the rear wheel via an aluminium swingarm directly linked to a central spring strut.
Both bikes differ in terms of dimensions, weight and a few other aspects depending on their purpose. The standard F 900 GS is a more off-road-centric motorcycle with minimal, rally-style bodywork and a lower kerb weight of 226kg. It also gets a 14.5-litre smaller fuel tank. Meanwhile, the Adventure trim is more of an all-rounder with a bigger 23-litre fuel tank and a larger seat. On the feature front, both bikes are typical BMWs with goodies like multiple riding modes, power modes, traction control, ABS, a bi-directional quick shifter, and a large 6.5-inch colour TFT display.
The BMW F 900 GS is available in two variants including Style Passion (Sao Paulo Yellow) and the GS Trophy (Lightweight/Racing Blue Metallic). On the other hand, the F 900 GS Adventure comes in two colour options including Black Storm Metallic and White Aluminium matt.
