BMW Motorrad India has confirmed that it will update its product portfolio with the launch of the new F 900 R and F 900 XR on 21 May 2020. The Indian arm of the Bavarian two-wheeler manufacturer had already teased the motorcycles through its social media handles. The new F 900 R is a naked roadster while the F 900 XR is an ADV sports tourer.
The F 900 R replaces the F 800 R in the company’s portfolio and comes equipped with a bigger engine. The 895cc, parallel-twin motor on the naked streetbike produces 99bhp of peak power and 90.8Nm of maximum torque. In terms of styling, the R model features a chiselled fuel tank with geometric extensions that double up as radiator cowl, a stubby tail section and a single-piece seat. The feature list comprises of full-LED lighting, full-colour TFT display with Bluetooth-connectivity, 12V socket and adjustable brake and clutch levers.
The F 900 XR, too, uses an 895cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine. The motor makes slightly higher power and marginally lower torque than the F 900 R. The twin-cylinder engine on the ADV sports tourer makes 104bhp of maximum power and 92Nm of peak torque. Styling cues include a semi-fairing design, windscreen and a twin-pod headlight. Similar to the naked roadster, the feature list on the F 900 XR include full-LED lighting and a Bluetooth-enabled 6.5-inch TFT instrument cluster.
Expect the F 900 R and the F 900 XR to arrive in the Rs 13-14 lakh (ex-showroom) price bracket.
