The 2020 BMW GS Trophy is scheduled to be held from 9th to 16th February, 2020 in New Zealand’s North and South Islands.
The seventh-edition of the event will witness participants using the BMW F850 GS to complete the course unlike the BMW R1200 GSA used in the earlier editions. The route too, for the first time, will be a point to point journey unlike the previous circuit routes. The 2020 BMW GS Trophy will see entrants from Netherlands and Argentina along with first-time entries from North Africa and the Middle East.
As for the motorcycle, the BMW F850 GS was launched in India last year and retails at Rs 12.95 lakhs (ex-showroom). It rides on 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels shod with dual-sport tyres. Powering the F850 GS is a 853cc, parallel-twin motor that produces 93bhp of power and 92Nm of torque. It comes mated to a six-speed gearbox and final chain drive. While the F850 GS is built for off-road, BMW also has a road-biased version called the F750 GS and retails at Rs 12.55 lakhs.
