The BMW F 900 XR is a new member in the German bike maker’s middle-weight family. Being a sports tourer, it boasts of an aggressive styling but is meant to deliver great comfort while munching long miles. The motorcycle is pegged at Rs 10.50 lakh (standard) and Rs 11.50 lakh (Pro). Through this image gallery, we tell you what all it offers for that price.
With sharp lines and deep contours, the quarter faired design of the F 900 XR is inspired by its litre-class sports tourer sibling, the S 1000 XR.
The sharp nose fairing up front integrates a split-type LED headlamp with LED DRLs and an adjustable windscreen. The tail lamp and turn indicators are also LED.
The instrumentation setup comprises of a fancy-looking 6.5-inch TFT display which gets Bluetooth connectivity. It pairs with the rider’s smartphone to provide access to calls, music and navigation on the console itself.
Propelling the F 900 XR is a 895cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine which produces 104bhp of maximum power and 92Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox.
The standard electronics package of the motorcycle consists of two riding modes (Road and Rain), Automatic Stability Control (ASC) and switchable traction control system.
The optional package brings more features into the mix such as two additional riding modes, Shift Assist Pro (quick shifter), Engine Drag Torque Control, Cornering ABS Pro, Dynamic Traction Control (DCT) and Dynamic Brake Control (DBC).
With a capacity of 15.5-litre, the fuel tank of the XR is larger than the R model which gives it a longer range. Meanwhile, the suspension setup also has more travel with 170mm at the front and 172mm at the rear.
In the middle-weight sports touring segment, the BMW F 900 XR will compete against the Ducati Multistrada 950 and the Triumph Tiger 900 GT.
