BMW Motorrad recently updated its India portfolio with the launch of the BS6-compliant G 310 GS. The latest iteration of the company’s entry-level adventure tourer gets a major price cut over the BS4 model, and it now retails at Rs 2.85 lakh. In comparison, its predecessor was sold at Rs 3.49 lakh. Here, we list the alternatives that potential buyers can consider in a similar price range.
KTM 390 Adventure (Rs 3,03,194)
The KTM 390 Adventure is the direct rival to the BMW G 310 GS, and the Austrian adventure tourer packs more features and power than the Bavarian product. The feature list on the KTM 390 Adventure comprises of full-LED lighting, Bluetooth-enabled colour TFT display, traction control system and a quick-shifter. Mechanical specifications include a 373cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that produces 42.3bhp and 37Nm of peak torque. The engine is linked to a six-speed transmission.
Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 (Rs 2,82,513)
Royal Enfield’s 650cc, twin-cylinder powered café-racer does not pack as many features as the G 310 GS, although it comes with a bigger engine. The 648cc, parallel twin-cylinder, air-cooled motor on the Continental GT 650 makes 47bhp of power and 52Nm of torque. The motor is linked to a six-speed gearbox. The feature list comprises of a halogen headlight, semi-digital instrument cluster and a clip-on style handlebar.
Royal Enfield Interceptor INT 650 (Rs 2,66,755)
The Interceptor INT 650 uses the same underpinnings and engine as the Continental GT 650, although the former comes with upright ergonomics. Similar to the café-racer, the Interceptor INT 650 uses a 648cc, parallel twin-cylinder, air-cooled motor that is linked to a six-speed gearbox and produces 47bhp and 52Nm. The feature list includes a halogen headlight and a semi-digital instrument cluster.
BMW’s entry-level roadster motorcycle, the G 310 R retails at a lower price tag than the G 310 GS. The R variant of the G 310 series uses the same engine as the GS, although it features 17-inch wheels at both ends and a relatively lower suspension travel. Mechanical specifications are similar to the G 310 GS, and the G 310 R uses a 312cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that makes 34bhp and 28Nm.
