- Bike spotted in transit.
- Expected to be launched in next couple of months.
- Likely to be priced around Rs 3 lakhs.
The BMW G 310 GS was spotted in transit between Chennai and Bengaluru.
With a couple of delays in its launch timeline, the manufacturer had announced that the G 310 GS along with its streetfighter sibling, the G 310 R would finally arrive in India around mid-2018. BMW Motorrad made its Indian debut last year and wanted to take a top-down approach with its motorcycles. With its higher-end products doing considerably well in the market, it would be ready to launch the small-capacity motorcycles.
Powering the BMW G310R and G 310 GS is a 313cc, liquid-cooled engine that produces 34bhp and 28Nm of torque. This fuel-injected motor is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The G 310 GS derives its styling from the bigger R 1200 GS and gets edgy tank extensions, a secondary beak-like fender and a luggage rack at the rear. It rides on alloy wheels and dual-purpose Metzeler Tourance tyres to boost its off-road capability.
While prices are yet to be announced we can safely expect the BMW G310 GS to carry a price tag of around Rs 3 lakhs. Once launched, it will compete with the Kawasaki Versys X-300 and the Royal Enfield Himalayan in India.
