The BMW G 310 R marks Motorrad’s foray into the rapidly growing small-capacity streetfighter segment. While the motorcycle was first shown in India over two years ago, it went on sale quite recently, priced at Rs 2.99 lakhs (ex-showroom). Earlier this week, we got hold of the bike and had a blast riding it. Here is a detailed photo gallery of the BMW G 310 R from the ride –
The BMW G 310 R gets characteristic streetfighter styling cues like a raked headlamp, fuel tank extensions, exposed frame and the shrouds.
The straight bars and the slightly rear set footpegs offer a good balance of comfortable and sporty riding position.
The G 310 R gets a single-piece seat which tapers at the rear to give the tail a minimalistic look. The 785mm seat height makes it accessible for short riders.
The instrumentation gets a fully digital LCD display which shows the gear position, fuel consumption, range and average speed along with other regular functions.
Propelling the G 310 R is a 313cc water-cooled single-cylinder engine, which churns out 33bhp and 28Nm of torque.
The engine gets a unique design, wherein the cylinder head is rotated by 180 degrees with the exhaust manifold at the rear and intake at the front.
The G 310 R rides on 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels constructed out of cast aluminium. These are shod with Michelin Pilot Street radials.
The suspension setup consists of 41mm inverted front forks and a preload-adjustable monoshock linked to an aluminium swingarm at the rear.
The brake setup consists of a 300mm disc at the front and a 240mm disc at the rear. The callipers have been sourced from Bybre and ABS is offered as standard.
