- Showcased at the BMW Motorrad Days in Japan.
- Based on the BMW G 310 R.
- Expected to be unveiled at the 2018 Intermot or EICMA.
An interesting one-off motorcycle was showcased at the BMW Motorrad Days in Japan; the BMW G 310 RR.
The bike is based on the underpinnings of the BMW G 310 R although with a full-fairing, nose spoiler and air intake between the faux headlights similar to the S 1000 RR supersport. The entire bodywork is made of carbon-fibre which BMW produces in-house as well as with its technical partners. It gets a seat only for the rider along with an underseat exhaust to lend it a sporty appeal.
The production-version of the G 310 RR is likely to be powered by a 313cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 34bhp and 28Nm of torque. Whether this bike is a one-off or a pre-production concept is to be seen as BMW is scheduled to launch nine new motorcycles either at the Intermot or EICMA.
If it does go into production, BMW will manufacture the bike at TVS’s Hosur plant. However, the BMW G 310 RR is unlikely to be sold in India as it would be priced at a premium of Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 over the G 310 R which costs Rs 2.99 lakhs. This pricing would be exorbitant since we have the KTM RC 390 at Rs 2.38 lakhs and that is before we consider the TVS Apache RR 310 which retails at 1.99 lakhs. (all priced ex-showroom, Mumbai).
