Both bike are powered by a 313cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 34bhp and 27Nm. This unit is mated to a six-speed gearbox and final chain drive. The bikes sport a fully-digital instrument cluster that displays speed, odometer, tachometer, fuel gauge along with clock and gear position indicator.
While the G310 R rides on 17-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Street tyres, the G310 GS gets a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel shod with Metzeler Tourance rubber. Suspension duties are taken care of by 41mm forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. However, the G310 GS gets slightly longer travel suspension at both ends. It also sports a sump guard and luggage rack to further boost its off-road capabilities.
Both bikes are available in three color schemes each; white, black and red. The BMW G310 R faces competition from the KTM 390 Duke while the Kawasaki Versys X-300 is the G310 GS's biggest rival.
