BMW Motorradwill finally launch the G310 R in India on 18 July. With just 3 weeks to go, we tell you what you can expect from the bike before it arrives in the country.
Design
The G310 R sports a streetfighter body style with aggressive styling. It gets a sculpted tank, and edgy tank extensions that also act as a radiator cowl. Most of the components like the switchgear, alloys, tyres and exhaust are familiar as they have been borrowed by the TVS Apache RR 310. However, unlike the RR 310’s sporty split seat unit, the G310 R makes do with a single-piece seat.
Engine
At the heart of the BMW G310 R is a 313cc, single-cylinder engine which produces 34bhp and 28Nm of torque. This unit is mated to a six-speed transmission and final chain drive.
Technology
BMW has equipped the bike with a rectangular, blue-backlit, LCD instrument cluster which displays the time, gear indicator along with the odometer, tachometer and speed. The G310 R also comes sports a dual-channel ABS system.
Cycle Parts
Stopping power on the BMW G310 R comes from dual 300mm disc squeezed by four-pot calipers in the front and a single 240mm disc with a single piston caliper at the rear; both ByBre units. The suspension setup consists of 41mm inverted forks and a preload adjustable rear monoshock. The G310 R rides on 17-inch wheels shod with Michelin Pilot Street rubber. It has a kerb weight of 158kg and a fuel tank capacity of 11 litres.
Pricing
While it does share its components and engine with the TVS Apache RR 310, the G310 R will be priced higher than the former. We can expect it to carry a price tag of around Rs 3.5 lakhs.
