Michelin is going to be the exclusive tyre supplier for the BMW G310 R. Speaking about their OEM tie-ups, a top management executive confirmed that they have partnered with BMW for supply of tyres for this upcoming budget roadster.
One of the most talked about motorcycles of this year, the BMW G310 R marks BMW Motorrad’s foray into the rapidly growing entry-level roadster segment. In previous instances, spy shots of the G310 R undergoing trials on Indian soil have hinted that the roadster would get Michelin tyres, though this announcement has now made it official. While we expect the BMW G310 R to come equipped with the Michelin Pilot Street radials, the executive refused to comment on this.
As TVS will also be having its own version of the BMW G310 R, we can expect this model to also get Michelin-branded tyres. Last year, TVS’ tyre manufacturing arm - Srichakra entered into an agreement to make two-wheeler tyres under the Michelin brand. This manufacturing plant has been set up next to TVS Srichakra’s site in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, and has an annual capacity of 36 lakh tyres. Besides BMW, Michelin also has partnered with Harley-Davidson as the official tyre supplier for the latter’s cruiser range.
