The BMW G 310 R was spotted recently on Indian roads without camouflage. The motorcycle was the European-spec BMW G 310 R and not the one showcased recently at the Bangkok International Motor Show. The new showcased version of the BMW G 310 R gets a new handle bar grip, longer turn indicators and a sleeker tail lamp cluster.
Powering the BMW G 310 R is a 313cc liquid-cooled engine mated to a 6-speed transmission. The BMW G 310 R churns out 34bhp at 9500rpm and 28Nm of torque at 7500rpm.
BMW Motorrad commenced its India operations officially in April 2017. For the initial phase, the company has set up its dealerships in cities like Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune and Ahmedabad. The BMW Motorrad has Heritage, Roadster, Tourers, Adventures and Sports series of motorcycles on offer. Once launched, the G 310 R will join BMW Motorrad’s portfolio.
The BMW G 310 R will compete directly with the KTM 390 Duke, and to some extent with other offerings in the same price and spec bracket, from the Bajaj Dominar to the Benelli TNT25 and even the Kawasaki Z250. The BMW G 310 R is expected to be priced aggressively despite being a premium offering, given that it will be manufactured in the TVS factory in Hosur.
