After ending its production partnership with Dafra Motos (Brazilian CKD assembler) that begun in 2009, BMW has announced that it will begin operations in its own plant in Manaus, Brazil. Slated to commence production in the second half of 2016, BMW will also add the G310R to the existing portfolio of eight motorcycles.
BMW has roped in the G310R roadster to the model range in a bid to spruce up the sales growth that’s been eyed in the region. The brand is looking to meet an estimated production of 10,000 units in 2017 after the bike is launched.
"With our global growth strategy, we strengthened our presence in emerging markets like Brazil. In this context, the G310R will play a key role in attracting new audiences to the BMW," said Stephan Schaller, President of BMW globally.
BMW India operations is expected to launch the G310R in the second half of 2016.
