Day 2 of the 2020 BMW GS Trophy started on a really good note as the riders were taken to the beach soon after leaving the hotel. BMW had planned an interesting challenge to test the physical endurance and team work. The riders had to push the motorcycle on a land filled with gravels. One rider will steer the motorcycle whereas the other two will push or pull the motorcycle through the cones and on to the finish line.
Team India’s Shakeel, Sathya and Rickiey performed the challenge quite well. A few seconds were lost in the gravels but the team was composed. The second challenge was also on the beach. It was a timed one. The rider had to get through a beach route as fast as possible. The team with the least time gets the most points. Sathya took this task in hand, and was seen completing it without much sweat.
Day 3 was an interesting day because this time BMW planned a total of three challenges. The first one was in the sand. The Germans had laid out a perfect sand track to unsettle the rider and the bike as much as possible. While at few places the sand layout was quite decent, at some places, it was really difficult to rider over it, even in the Enduro Pro mode. Rickiey had a perfect start and looked composed throughout. But Team India lost a few seconds when the bike stalled. But the challenge was completed, without a single fall.
For challenge two, BMW Motorrad had selected one of the best beaches in the world. Here, the challenge was an interesting one. Each team member will get two chances to throw the gloves inside the LEAT neck brace and each of these neck braces were placed 5 feet from each other. Shakeel got the maximum points here that changed Team India’s overall standings. The third challenge involved some really good technical riding through the forest. Shakeel had to ride through a narrow river, closely placed trees and also through a pile of mud. While mainly one rider was involved, the entire team was allowed to support Shakeel in case of any falls. Luckily, there was none.
