BMW R1200 GS owners rejoice! The famous BMW GS Trophy is coming to India this year. The Indian national qualifier will be held in Goa from 26-29 October, 2017.
The registration for this competition has begun and can be done through its official website. Eligibility is limited to riders who own the G 650, F700 GS, F800 GS, F800 GSA, R1200 GS and the R 1200 GS Adventure bikes in India. But currently, only the R1200 GS and the R 1200 GSA are sold officially, so chances of these bikes being in large numbers are not very likely. The top three participants will then represent India in the International GS Trophy 2018 that will be held in Mongolia over 10 days. Each of these riders will be given a brand new GS motorcycle to ride in the finale.
The participants need to register online and registration fees of Rs 20,000 needs to be submitted at any of the four BMW Motorrad dealerships. The registration fees covers all expenses that will be incurred during the event. Apart from owning these bikes, the riders need to have a valid driving licence and full riding gear.
The BMW GS Trophy isn’t just a race. It’s really a competition that calls for complete involvement of all your physical and mental faculties. It is a competition wherein participants ride for nearly 2000km, mostly off-road. Along the way they compete in a series of challenges that test their intellectual, riding and navigation skills.
