- The M 1000 RR commemorates 50 years of BMW’s M division
- It will be available in a limited number only
- Gets fancy tech aplenty
BMW Motorrad has introduced the M 1000 RR 50 Years M anniversary edition to commemorate 50 years of its M division. The special edition model comes draped in Sao Paulo Yellow paint and looks quite desirable.
Cosmetically, the M 1000 RR 50 Years M anniversary edition looks identical to the ‘standard’ M 1000 RR. You get the same split LED headlight, same bodywork and all the other do-dad. However, the special edition gets the Competition package as standard unlike the optional fitment on the regular M 1000 RR. The package consists of an aluminum swingarm, a bunch of carbon fibre bits and a code to unlock the onboard GPS data module.
The 999cc liquid-cooled in-line four-cylinder motor develops an eye-watering 210bp and 113Nm. Making sure you can make the most of the unearthly power figures, the M 1000 RR also gets carbon fibre winglets as standard.
BMW has equipped the M 1000 RR 50 Year M edition with the manually adjustable Marzocchi suspension, the same unit that you see on the base model of the S 1000 RR. Even the choice of rubber is the same as the Dunlop SportSmart TT. Given the fact that the model will commemorate BMW M division’s 50 years, it’s a bit disappointing to see the M 1000 RR 50 Years M edition miss out even on the semi-active suspension.
BMW will commence the bookings for the special edition from tomorrow in the international market. We expect BMW Motorrad India to bring the bike here very soon. Not to mention, it'll command a notable premium over the already expensive standard M 1000 RR.
