Manufacturers continue riding the nostalgia wave - the latest is this, BMW's Lac Rose concept, which the company says will go into production in 2017. It is based off the R nineT, and has a lot of hints to BMW's Dakar Rally involvement. It does seem like it will encroach on the space that the scrambler will occupy, but this is more in the adventure bike mould rather than a scrambler-type format.
We welcome any motorcycle that goes back to the basics, and that's exactly what the Lac Rose concept is. If you ignore for one moment the nostalgia it tries to evoke, it is an adventure motorcycle and yet it is far less intimidating than the full-blown R1200GS. It will also be priced less than that model, so that's good news for the Indian market. Of course, it won't be known as the Lac Rose concept when it makes it into production, but whatever it will be called, it promises more fun and hopefully a less intimidating riding experience compared to the other adventure motorcycle in the BMW lineup.
Look for a 2017 launch for the Lac Rose through BMW's official network in India.
