BMW Motorrad recently launched the M 1000 R in India as its most powerful supersport offering. The new offering is based on the existing S 1000 R but features a lot of swanky components. Here’s are its top highlights.
Design
The M 1000 R features a single pod headlight with a butch-looking fuel tank. The overall silhouette looks youthful and muscular. It sports large tank extensions that extend to the headlight. Then, there’s a flat and wide handlebar and a two-piece seat. The Competition variant is draped in the Bavarian brand’s signature colours of black, red, and blue.
Features
On the feature front, the M 1000 R gets ride modes (Rain, Road, Dynamic, Race, and Race 1 to 3), traction control, wheelie control, ABS, engine brake control, launch control, and more. All these can monitored from the 6.5-inch TFT screen. Then, there’s LED illumination and BMW’s ShiftCam technology too.
Engine
The M 1000 R is powered by a 999cc, inline, four-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that belts out 212bhp and 113Nm. It is mated to a six-speed gearbox and gets a slip-and-assist clutch.
Hardware
The new Bavarian rides on 45mm USD front forks and a monoshock with preload, rebound, and compression adjustability. Its braking hardware includes 320mm dual front discs and a single 220mm rear disc with ABS. The brakes are mounted to aluminium forged wheels for the standard model while the Competition trim gets carbon wheels. Both variants get 120/70 front and 200/55 rear tyres.
Price
The asking price for the M 1000 R standard variant is Rs. 33 lakh and the M 1000 R Competition retails at Rs. 38 lakh (both ex-showroom, Delhi).
