BMW Motorrad India has updated its portfolio with the launch of the M 1000 RR. The new motorcycle, which is based on the S 1000 RR, is the first M model from the Bavarian brand to arrive in the Indian market. Here we bring you a detailed image gallery of the new BMW M 1000 RR.
The M 1000 RR is powered by a 999cc, water-cooled, inline four-cylinder engine with the BMW ShiftCam technology. The motor puts out a healthy 209bhp (156kW) at 14,500 rpm and 113 Nm of peak torque at 11,000 rpm. The redline of the motor on the M 1000 RR stands at 15,100 rpm.
The motor features revised components along with an increased compression and a lightweight exhaust system that is made of titanium. The 0-100kmph acceleration takes 3.1 seconds while the top speed has been rated at 306kmph.
In terms of design, the M model features a new paint theme with special livery that distinguishes it from the standard S 1000 RR. Other distinctive features include a granite grey colour for the engine covers and a black paint for the fuel filler cap.
The M 1000 RR also benefits from aerodynamic improvements in the form of clear-coat carbon M winglets and a high windscreen. The winglets are designed to deliver improved downforce.
The chassis, too, has received tweaks and the frame on the M 1000 RR has been trimmed for race track use.
The model benefits from high performance components such as M brakes, M carbon wheels, a 6.5-inch TFT display with OBD interface, lightweight M battery, USB charging socket, powerful integrated LED light units, and heated grips.
The electronic aids include four riding modes (Rain, Road, Dynamic, and Race) as standard while Race Pro1-3 are available as optional extra. The Riding Modes Pro let the rider to customise the Engine (throttle), Engine Brake, Traction Control, Wheelie-Control, ABS, and ABS Pro. The Pro model also offer access to Launch Control and pit-lane limiter.
The more premium, Competition variant further benefits from M GPS-lap trigger, Passenger Kit, Pillion Seat Cover, Carbon Pack (M Carbon Front and Rear Mudguard, M Carbon Upper Fairing Side Panel, M Carbon Tank Cover, M Carbon Chain Guard, M Carbon Sprocket Cover), M Billet Pack (M Engine Protectors, M Brake Lever Folding, M Brake Lever Guard, M Clutch Lever Folding, M Rider Footrest System).
The standard variant has been priced at Rs 42,00,000 while the Competition version retails at Rs 45,00,000.
