BMW Motorrad India has confirmed via its social media handles that the new M 1000 RR will arrive in the country very soon. The new M 1000 RR is the first M model from BMW Motorrad based on the S 1000 RR.
This high-spec model gets several mechanical and styling upgrades over the standard S 1000 RR. The water-cooled, inline four-cylinder engine with the BMW ShiftCam technology, for example, puts out 209bhp (156kW) of power at 14,500rpm and a maximum torque of 113 Nm at 11,000rpm. The redline of the motor stands at 15,100rpm. The M model also gets revised components for the engine, an increased compression and a lightweight exhaust system that is made of titanium.
Styling upgrades include a new paint theme with special livery that gives it a distinctive look. The engine covers feature a granite grey colour while the fuel filler cap is painted black. The motorcycle also benefits from aerodynamic improvements in the form of clear-coat carbon M winglets and a high windscreen.
Underneath the styling, the M 1000 RR also benefits from a revised chassis design that has been trimmed for race track use. Other features include high performance M brakes, M carbon wheels, and a 6.5-inch TFT display and OBD interface. BMW Motorrad also offers a lightweight M battery, USB charging socket in the rear, powerful integrated LED light units, and heated grips.
The electronic aids include selectable riding modes (Rain, Road, Dynamic, Race, and Race Pro1-3), traction control, wheelie control, selectable throttle modes, engine braking adjustability, bidirectional quickshifter, launch control, pit-lane-limiter, and hill start control.
Globally, the company also offers the optional M competition package that brings features such as M GPS laptrigger and activation code, M milled parts package, M carbon package, 220g lighter swingarm, DLC-coated M endurance chain, and passenger package including tail-hump cover.
