BMW M 1000 XR launched at Rs 45 lakh

-M Competiton variant launched

-Powered by a 999cc, inline-four engine

-Sprints from 0-100kmph in 3.2 seconds

BMW Motorrad India has launched the new M 1000 XR in India at Rs 45 lakh, ex-showroom. India gets the M Competiton variant and that means it has a plethora of carbon fibre parts including the wheels, side panels, front wheel cover, and a lot more. But first, let's get to the way this bike looks, shall we?

The M 1000 XR in the M Competiton trim features a special high-gloss black paint which contrasts with the high glass carbon fibre side panels. This along with the contrasting, BMW M division colours splattered across the bike’s bodywork immediately grabs attention.

Speaking of the bodywork, the M 1000 XR looks sharp, sporty, and very purposeful. Elements like the split LED headlights with integrated DRLs, the small windscreen, and the way the fender fuses with the tank are some of the highlights of the design that are neatly executed. The tail section, as well as the pillion grab handles, are narrower than the S 1000 XR which this bike is based on.

The bike also has great attention to detail like the milled parts for the clutch and brake levers, the carbon end cap on the titanium silencer, the embroidered M logo on the seats, and more.

The M 1000 XR is powered by a 999cc, inline-four engine that makes 201bhp at 12,750rpm and 113Nm at 11,000rpm. BMW claims the bike can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 3.2 seconds and hit a top speed of 278kmph.

It also has a laundry list of electronics that includes four ride modes- Road, Dynamic, Race, and Race Pro with three settings. In addition to this, there’s Dynamic Traction Control, wheelie control and more. The settings for these systems are accessed via the 6.5-inch TFT display. There’s also an OBD interface for the M GPS datalogger and lap timer. In addition to the modes, the bike also gets launch control, a pitlane speed limiter, and a Brake Slide Assist function that allows the rider to drift the bike while entering corners.

Moving to the chassis, the frame is suspended by a USD fork with ten-step adjustments for rebound, compression, and preload; and an adjustable monoshock at the rear. The bike rides on 17-inch wheels with a 120-section tyre at the front and a 200-section tyre at the rear. Braking duties are taken care of by twin discs at the front and a disc at the rear.

BMW has thrown open bookings for the M 1000 XR from today onwards across all Motorrad dealerships in the country.
