BMW Motorrad recently took the wraps off the M1000RR; a homologation-special and the first motorcycle offering from its M division. Here are a set of detailed images of the special bike for you to ogle at.
The BMW M1000RR is based on the S1000RR, and even looks similar. However, the M1000RR is more track-oriented than the latter.
To begin with, the 999cc, inline-four cylinder engine has undergone changes like shorter forged pistons, lighter connecting rods and rocker arms, a tweaked intake port and a higher compression ratio.
The package also includes a titanium Akrapovic exhaust that has resulted in a mind-boggling output of 212bhp at 14,500rpm; up from the ‘standard’ model’s 205bhp. Its peak torque of 112.4Nm comes in at 11,000rpm.
Furthermore, BMW Motorrad has also made the M1000RR 4kg lighter than the S1000RR. It also offers better aerodynamics thanks to the winglets that provide roughly 16kg of downforce at high speeds.
The M1000RR is also the first model to sport M braking hardware that includes twin 320mm discs upfront and a 220mm disc at the rear. BMW has also tweaked the 45mm upside-down forks and increased the swingarm by 0.7 inches.
As for features, the BMW M1000RR offers all the bells and whistles like five riding modes, adjustable throttle curves, launch control, dynamic traction control, hill-start control, a pit-lane limiter as well as a 6.5-inch TFT instrument cluster.
BMW Motorrad has pegged the homologation-special M1000RR at GBP 31,000 (approx. Rs 29 lakh). We can expect the manufacturer to launch the bike in India in limited-numbers by end of this year or early 2021.
