With the government announcing a drop in custom duty on CBU motorcycles, BMW Motorrad has slashed the prices for its entire range.
However, the drop in prices isn’t consistent throughout the range. The R 1200 R doesn’t benefit from the price drop, and continues to retail at Rs 14.90 lakh. The K 1600 GTL and the R 1200 GS are a measly Rs 20,000 more affordable than they were before. The flagship superbike S 1000 RR on the other hand, is Rs 1 lakh more affordable, with prices starting at Rs 17.90 lakh. Its streetfighter sibling, the S 1000 R, now starts at Rs 16.30 lakh, making it Rs 60,000 cheaper than before. The Heritage range, which begins with the R nineT Scrambler, starts at Rs 15.40 lakh, down from Rs 15.90 lakh.
The custom duty levied on motorcycles imported through CBU route was dropped from 75 per cent to 50 per cent following the announcement of the Budget. As such, BMW Motorrad has decided to pass on the benefit to customers by reducing the prices.
