BMW announced the commencement of the production of the R nineT on Tuesday this week. The motorcycle is manufactured at its Berlin plant in Germany and was created to celebrate BMW Motorrad’s 90th anniversary. The R nineT had made its public debut at the EICMA event which was held in Milan, Italy earlier.
The main feature of the BMW R nineT is the fuel tank made fully of aluminium. It is painted with a clear coat of black lacquer finish. The motorcycle is equipped with an air-cooled Boxer engine which produces 110bhp at 7,750rpm and 119Nm of torque at 6,000rpm.
During the production cycle, the motorcycle has to go through 1,000 test parameters on their roller dynamometer. BMW claims that this motorcycle is made according to the highest standards and is totally compliant with the 90-year-old company’s heritage.
The motorcycle manufacturer says it combines the brand’s DNA across the years. The production motorcycle is a result of two and a half years of hard work which began from the concept vehicle.
Marc Sielemann, head of production at BMW Motorrad said, “During the initial phase, our designers had already sat together with vehicle developers from Munich. So we were able to incorporate production-related aspects into the concept at a very early stage, thereby ensuring the quality of our manufacturing processes.”
BMW has created the café racer-styled R nineT motorcycle for their niche customers. The motorcycle can be customised with the various accessories developed by the company, the addition of which only goes to highlight its iconic status.
