- BMW CE 02 launch this year
- Likely to be around the festive season
- Will be more expensive than TVS X
BMW Motorrad is planning to expand its EV range in India by launching the CE 02. This two-wheeler is likely to make its debut this festive season and will sit below the recently launched CE 04.
Currently, the CE 02 is manufactured by TVS at their Hosur facility and exported worldwide. This EV platform has been co-developed with the German brand and the full manufacturing process is being done by TVS. The idea behind the CE range of EVs is to build a premium brand with clean energy and also position it as an urban product that helps BMW build a new set of buyers worldwide.
The CE 02 is powered by a 2kWh battery with options to choose from a single or a dual battery setup. This means the scooter offers 90km of range and a 95kmph top speed or a 45km range and 45kmph top speed depending on the setup. Like CE 04, this two-wheeler has some modern features and styling that make it extremely aspirational.
In terms of product placement in India, BMW is likely to price it around Rs 4 lakh to Rs 5 lakh, making it a few lakh more expensive than the TVS X. Interestingly, the brand value of BMW is so strong in India that such products sell quite fast and most of the consumers see its exclusivity.
