BMW Motorrad has taken the wraps off the 2015 F800R at the ongoing EICMA 2014 show that is being held in Milan, Italy. This entry- level roadster from the German manufacturer gets both, cosmetic as well as mechanical updates.
If you look closely, the front fascia of the 2015 version is quite different and to be honest looks better than the older model. The typical asymmetrical headlamp has given way to a symmetrical one which looks more balanced now. But this new headlamp has changed the way the F800R looks and gives the bike a very aggressive stance. The bike gets new side fairings, radiator cap and front fender. BMW has also worked on the wheels by redesigning it and reducing the weight marginally.
When it comes to mechanicals, the 2015 BMW F800R gets the same 798cc liquid-cooled engine but now churns out 90bhp at 8,000rpm instead of the 87 – 3bhp increase and peak torque of 86Nm at 5,800rpm. This engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox that transfers power to the rear wheel via a chain drive. However, the first and second gears are shorter.
The 2015 BMW F800R is loaded with the typical German technology like ABS being offered as standard. It also gets the automatic stability control (ASC), electronic suspension adjustment (ESA) which comes in three configurations. The motorcycle is also available in a 48bhp version for novice riders and is available with four colour options – light white pastel, racing blue metallic/satin black, racing blue matt metallic / pastel lightwhite/ black satin and lightwhite pastel/satin black.
