BMW could launch a mini-GS adventure bike based on the smaller G310R’s engine. The G310R will be an India-made motorcycle that has been developed under the BMW-TVS alliance formed two years ago. The G310R is expected to make its debut this year while the GS version is likely to appear in 2017.
The news comes directly from BMW Motorrad UK, Director, Phil Horton. He says that the smaller adventure bike could use the same engine that powers the G310R. It is a 313cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. This engine churns out 34bhp at 9500rpm and has a peak torque of 28Nm at 7500rpm. However, we believe the motorcycle will have a slightly different state of tune to suit its adventure motorcycling character.
Speaking to Motorcycle Sport & Leisure, BMW Motorrad UK, Director, Phil Horton said: “New models aside, the line-up isn’t as comprehensive as it needs to be. But there are plenty more bikes to come, including, hopefully in 2017, a G310R GS-style derivative. That’s quite an interesting proposition in itself.”
It is likely that this mini-GS could be manufactured in India just like the G310R. Which means, when launched in India it is expected to come with great pricing. A mini-GS adventure motorcycle from the German manufacturer at competitive pricing, watch out Himalayan!
