Ze Germans haff arrived!
BMW has launched its entire range of two-wheelers in India (with the notable exception of the G310R) and the range, comprising of the R 1200 R, R 1200 RS and R 1200 RT, will be available as CBUs as part of that range.
The R 1200 R, R 1200 RS and R 1200 RT are three versions of the same motorcycle: a shaft-driven rear wheel that receives power from an air/oil-cooled 1170cc boxer twin via a six-speed gearbox. The R is a street bike, all naked muscle; the RS is a sport tourer that derives design inspiration from the S1000RR, and the RT is a touring machine not unlike the K16000 GTL. The legendary reliability of the BMW boxer engine is a given, and a shaft drive makes the usual chain maintenance and adjustment redundant.
The R 1200 R will retail for Rs 14.9-15.5 lakh, the R 1200 RS for Rs 15.9-16.9 lakh and the R 1200 RT for Rs 18.5-21.9 lakh, all ex-showroom, New Delhi and bookings are open now.
