- BMW R 1250 GS BS6 India launch on 8 July, 2021
- To be available in two variants (Standard and Adventure)
- Pre-bookings open at BMW Motorrad dealerships
BMW Motorrad has confirmed via its social media handles that the BS6-compliant R 1250 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure will arrive in the Indian market on 8 July, 2021. The pre-bookings for the motorcycles are already open at BMW Motorrad dealerships in the country.
The German two-wheeler manufacturer already offers the Euro5-compliant (equivalent to BS6 emission norms) R 1250 GS series in several international markets. The latest iteration of the adventure tourer uses a Euro5-compliant 1,254cc, air/liquid-cooled, flat-twin engine. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, the motor produces 134bhp of power at 7,750rpm and 142Nm of peak torque at 6,250rpm. The India-bound, BS6-compliant model will deliver similar output numbers.
The upcoming motorcycles, similar to the international-spec model, will feature an asymmetric headlight design, a beak-style front, and an adjustable windscreen. The standard model will ride on alloy wheels while the Adventure variant will feature tubeless-tyre compatible cross-spoke wheels. Standard features on both variants will include full-LED lighting, Bluetooth-enabled TFT colour display, traction control system, ABS Pro, three ride modes (Eco, Road, and Rain), hill start control, and a USB charging socket.
The updated models should carry a price premium over their respective BS4 variants. We expect the prices to start from Rs 18 lakh to Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom) range.
