BMW Motorrad has confirmed via its social media handles that it will launch the BS6-compliant R 1250 GS and the R 1250 GS Adventure in the Indian market very soon. The Euro5-compliant (equivalent to BS6 emission norms) model is already available in several international markets.
Mechanical specifications on the latest iteration of the motorcycle that is available in the international markets include a Euro5-compliant 1,254cc, air/liquid-cooled, flat-twin engine with BMW ShiftCam technology that produces 134bhp of power at 7,750rpm and 142Nm of peak torque at 6,250rpm. The India-bound model will feature similar power and torque output numbers.
The standard equipment on the international-spec R 1250 GS includes full-LED lighting, Bluetooth-enabled TFT colour display, traction control system, ABS Pro, three ride modes (Eco, Road, and Rain), hill start control, and a USB charging socket. The optional extras comprise of electronically-adjustable suspension, heated seats, Ride Pro modes (Dynamic, Dynamic Pro, Enduro and Enduro Pro), automated hill start control, dynamic brake assistant, and engine brake control.
The styling cues retain the rugged design comprising an asymmetric headlight, a beak-style front, a semi-fairing, and an adjustable windscreen. The motorcycle also packs a large fuel tank, split-style seats, a tall-set exhaust, and a shaft-drive system. The standard R 1250 GS will use alloy wheels while the Adventure variant will come equipped with tubeless-tyre compatible spoke wheels.
