- BMW R 1250 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure BS6 to be launched in India tomorrow
- Pre-bookings open at BMW Motorrad dealerships
- Euro5/BS6 model to produce 134bhp and 142Nm
BMW Motorrad will launch the BS6-compliant variants of its flagship adventure tourer series, R 1250 GS in the Indian market tomorrow. The German manufacturer will introduce two variants (Standard and Adventure) of the motorcycle in our market. The pre-bookings for the motorcycles have already begun at BMW Motorrad dealerships in the country.
The Euro5-compliant R 1250 GS series is already available in several international markets. The Euro5 (equivalent to BS6 emission norms) R 1250 GS series uses a 1,254cc, air/liquid-cooled, flat-twin engine that produces 134bhp of power at 7,750rpm and 142Nm of peak torque at 6,250rpm. The motor is linked to a six-speed gearbox. The India-spec model will deliver similar output numbers.
In terms of design, the upcoming R 1250 GS will pack an asymmetric headlight, a beak-style front, and an adjustable windscreen. The standard variant of the R 1250 GS series will use alloy wheels while the Adventure variant will ride on tubeless-tyre compatible cross-spoke wheels. Both variants will feature full-LED lighting, Bluetooth-enabled TFT colour display, traction control system, ABS Pro, three ride modes (Eco, Road, and Rain), hill start control, and a USB charging socket as standard.
We expect the upcoming BMW R 1250 GS series to carry a price premium over the BS4 models, and retail in the Rs 18 lakh to Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom) range.
