BMW Motorrad has updated its India portfolio with the launch of the BS6-compliant R 1250 GS series. The company will offer two variants of the motorcycle – R 1250 GS Pro and R 1250 GS Adventure Pro – in the Indian market with prices starting from Rs 20,45,000 (ex-showroom) onwards. Variants and Prices
The BMW R 1250 GS Pro has been priced at Rs 20,45,000 while the R 1250 GS Adventure Pro is available at Rs 22,40,000. The motorcycles will be imported to India via the Completely Built-up Units (CBU) route.
Design and Features
The R 1250 GS BS6 gets a rugged design that comprises an asymmetric headlight, a beak-style front, and an adjustable windscreen. The feature list on both variants (Pro Models) includes full-LED lighting, an adaptive headlight, keyless ride, heated grips, a Bluetooth-enabled TFT colour display, traction control system, adaptive cruise control, ABS Pro, three ride modes (Eco, Road, and Rain), hill-start control, and a USB charging socket as standard. The R 1250 GS Pro tips the weighing scales at 249kg while the R 1250 GS Adventure Pro is 268kg heavy. The Adventure variant gets 10-litre more fuel carrying capacity than the standard model.
Colours
Both variants would be available in basic colour scheme, style triple black variant, and style Rallye variant. BMW Motorrad will also offer the limited-edition special '40 Years GS' edition in the Indian market.
Engine
Both variants of the R 1250 GS range are powered by a BS6-compliant, 1,254cc, air/liquid-cooled, flat-twin engine that makes 134bhp of power at 7,750rpm and 143Nm of peak torque at 6,250rpm. The motor is linked to a six-speed gearbox.
Hardware
The suspension setup on the motorcycles includes the BMW Motorrad Telelever setup (telescopic forks with a central spring strut) at the front and a BMW Motorrad Paralever (mono-shock) at the rear. The anchoring duties are handled by twin discs on the front wheel and a single rotor on the rear wheel. The R 1250 GS Pro uses alloy wheels while the R 1250 GS Adventure Pro variant comes equipped with tubeless-tyre compatible cross-spoke wheels.
