BMW Motorrad has announced the launch of the BS6-compliant R 1250 GS series in the Indian market with prices ranging between Rs 20.45 lakh and Rs 22.40 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The closest threat to the BMW R 1250 GS BS6, the Ducati Multistrada V4 is scheduled to reach the Indian market this month. While we await the launch of the new Ducati Multistrada V4, here we list the alternatives that potential buyers can consider in a similar price range as the BMW R 1250 GS BS6.
Ducati Panigale V4 (Rs 23.50 lakh)
The base model of the Ducati Pangale V4 retails at a marginal premium over the BMW R 1250 GS. The supersport motorcycle from the Italian two-wheeler brand uses a 1,103cc, V4, liquid-cooled engine that produces 211bhp of maximum power at 13,000rpm and 124Nm of peak torque at 9,500rpm. The motorcycle packs features such as LED headlights and a five-inch fully-digital colour display. Buyers can also consider the Panigale V4 S that benefits from an electronically-adjustable suspension.
Kawasaki’s litre-class naked roadster, the Z H2 is available at an ex-showroom price tag of Rs 21.90 lakh. The Japanese motorcycle comes equipped with Kawasaki’s supercharger technology. The 998cc, inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled, supercharged engine produces 197.2bhp of power at 11,000rpm and 137Nm of peak torque at 8,500rpm. The feature list on the Kawasaki Z H2 comprises full-LED lighting and a Bluetooth-enabled colour TFT display. For a premium price tag of Rs 25.90 lakh, buyers can opt for the more premium Z H2 SE variant that features a semi-active electronically-adjustable suspension setup.
Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic (Rs 21.49 lakh)
Buyers looking for a retro-style, cruiser motorcycle can consider the Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic. The cruiser motorcycle features a round headlamp that is flanked by auxiliary LED lights. It also gets a chrome bezel at the front. The Heritage Classic also packs touring-oriented elements like a tall windscreen and lockable saddlebags that come as standard. While the equipment complements its vintage styling, the Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic does not pack as many features as its rivals in this list. The feature list comprises a tank-mounted round analogue instrument cluster with a small LCD. Mechanical specifications include a 1,868cc, V-Twin engine that makes 92.5bhp of power and 155Nm of peak torque.
BMW Motorrad’s road-focused, touring-friendly performance motorcycle, the S 1000 XR retails in a similar price range as the R 1250 GS series. The litre-class sports/adventure tourer uses the same engine that also powers the S 1000 RR. The motor on the XR model, however, is tuned for better power and torque delivery throughout the rev range. The 999cc, four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine makes 162bhp of power at 11,000rpm and 114Nm of peak torque at 9,250rpm. The S 1000 XR, which is available in a single variant in the Indian market, comes equipped with features such as full-LED lighting, an electronically adjustable suspension setup, and a Bluetooth-enabled instrument cluster.
Ducati Streetfighter V4 (Rs 19.99 lakh)
The Streetfighter V4 naked roadster is available at a relatively lower price tag than the new BMW R 1250 GS. The Streetfighter V4 shares its engine with the Panigale V4, and both motorcycles make almost similar power and torque output figures. The 1,103cc, V4, liquid-cooled engine on the Streetfighter V4 produces 205bhp of power at 12,750pm and 123Nm of peak torque at 9,500rpm. The S variant of the naked roadster, which features an electronically-adjustable suspension setup, is available at Rs 22.99 lakh.
