The all-new BMW R 1300 GS will be launched in India tomorrow, that is 13 June. There is a lot expected from the bike as it is tasked with repeating the glorious success of the BMW R 1250 GS, which has been the best selling big ADV motorcycle in the world.
BMW Motorrad India has confirmed that the new R 1300 GS will be available in five variants. These are Light White, Triple Black 1, Triple Black 2, GS Trophy and Option 719. BMW says that these variants differ not only in terms of colour but also in the equipment they get. To set base, each of the features are categorised into three packages- Comfort, Dynamic and Touring.
The base variant, that is the Light White is pretty well equipped and gets features like an electric windscreen, dynamic suspension adjustment and ride modes. Move to the Triple Black 1 and it gets hand protector extensions, pannier fastners, chrome exhaust and comfort seats. The Triple Black 2, on the other hand, can be equipped with an adaptive ride height option.
The R 1300 GS Trophy variant gets a rather fetching colour scheme, but, beyond that it also has the BMW Headlight Pro feature, gold cross spoke wheels option and more.
Lastly, the Option 719 is the variant with all the bells and whistles. It is also the most special looking with milled clutch and brake levers, expansion tank lids and ignition coil cover. The bike’s green colour with the gold cross spoke rims adds to the looks of the BMW R 1300 GS Option 719. This variant also gets features like the radar based adaptive cruise control.
Powering the R 1300 GS is a 1,300cc, liquid-cooled, boxer engine that makes 145bhp at 7,750rpm and 149Nm at 6,500rpm. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox.
The bike will have some stiff competition to fight with, such as the Ducati Multistrada V4 and the Triumph Tiger 1200. Prices are expected to begin around the Rs 22 lakh mark.
