Just a few weeks ago we rode the latest BMW R 1300 GS in the northern region of India. And now that its prices are revealed, we can finally tell you whether to purchase the bike. Here is our review..
The overall design and visual aspect of the new R 1300 GS has only improved when compared to its outgoing sibling. The bike looks sleeker and less bulky while holding the sense of a true-blue adventure motorcycle.
Even in terms of features, BMW has upped the ante. The R 1300 GS comes with a TFT that gets smartphone connectivity, and rider aids including active cruise control, front collision warning, lane change warning, adaptive ride height control, heated grips, ride modes, traction control, and more. But these vary as per the variants.
Now, BMW has not only plonked a bigger 1300cc boxer-twin engine in the latest GS, but also altered the overall riding experience. The R 1300 GS is lighter than its predecessor and packs ample torque to start pulling from as low as 2,000 rpm.
Moreover, the refinement levels are quite high and there are barely any vibrations that you would notice. The gear shifts are nice and crisp too. But since our riding venue didn’t include long straight stretches, we could run through all six gears.
BMW has opted for the Telelever with the R 1300 GS as well. The result is plush ride quality with supreme confidence on fast and winding roads too. The bike feels planted and allows you to push further.
But, should you spend Rs. 20.95 lakh on the standard model of the R 1300 GS? For reference, it costs just Rs. 40,000 more than the 1250 version. Read our first ride review for a detailed answer.
