The BMW R 1300 GS has been officially teased in India. BMW Motorrad has posted an image of the bike’s fuel tank and panels, covered in mud, on its social media platforms to announce its imminent launch. The bike should be in showrooms in June 2024.
The R 1300 GS is one of the most anticipated launches of 2024 and there’s a lot expected from the bike as it carries the burden of filling in the shoes of the hugely popular BMW R 1250 GS. The new ‘R 1300 GS’ is said to have taken the tried and tested BMW GS formula of being an accessible, easy to ride and handle big capacity ADV while adopting a new, slimmer design and new age features and technology.
Under the bodywork, you’ve got a new sheet metal frame and a cast aluminum subframe. As was the case with the BMW R 1250 GS, the R 1300 GS also has a Telelever front suspension while at the rear there's a Paralever unit. Expect the new bike to offer a comfortable ride and agile dynamics for an ADV.
Powering the bike is a 1,300cc, twin-cylinder engine that makes 145bhp at 7,750rpm and 149Nm at 6,500rpm. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox. The electronics suite is pretty comprehensive as well and includes radar assisted cruise control.
The BMW R 1300 GS will be launched in four variants, GS, Triple Black, GS Trophy and the Option 719 Tramuntana. Prices are expected to begin at Rs 22 lakh.
