BMW Motorrad’s latest adventure bike offering, the R 1300 GS finally debuted in India. It is being offered in multiple paint schemes along with various packages. So, here is a list of its top highlights.
Design
Compared to its predecessor, the R 1300 GS looks sleeker and slimmer. It gets a new headlight which seems symmetrical and in tandem with the overall bodywork. The bike gets a centre-set projector with diagonally set LED DRLs. The setup is packed between a beak below and a transparent visor above.
You can purchase the BMW R 1300 GS in four paint trims – Light White, GS Trophy, Triple Black, and Option 719 Aurelius Green. These variants further vary in terms of the hardware and equipment.
Features
The new GS comes loaded with a truckload of features. It gets radar tech like active cruise control, front collision warning, lane change warning, adaptive ride height control, heated grips, ride modes, traction control, ABS, a TFT with smartphone connectivity, and much more. However, some of these features are exclusive to the top-spec models.
Engine
Powering the BMW R 1300 GS is a 1,300cc, liquid-cooled, boxer engine. It makes 145bhp at 7,750rpm and 149Nm at 6,500rpm. The engine is linked to a six-speed gearbox and uses a shaft drive system. The benefit is eliminating the task of adjusting the chain slack and the overall maintenance. However, the shaft does need a timely checkup.
Hardware
In typical BMW GS fashion, the R 1300 boasts USD front forks and monoshock with the brand’s telelever and paralelver setup. This benefits the overall riding experience when riding on different terrains. The braking hardware comprises dual front and a single rear disc with dual - channel ABS. These are mounted on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels that are wrapped in 120/70 front and 170/60 rear tyres.
Price
The asking price for the BMW R 1300 GS is set at Rs. 20.95 lakh for the standard model, while the Pro and Pro M Sport are priced at Rs. 23.10 lakh and Rs. 25.25 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi), respectively.
